Mascara

     I wanted to be direct in the way I portrayed La Mascara. Its open to interpretation, and Im glad that most of the people in class understood what it meant. Its a self portrait depicting my awareness of time. The checkers are symbolic of how I feel that I should be strategic about life. The Campanelli sits beside my head. I intended it to show my focus on and the halo of chaos is the fear of the unknown.

     Octavio Paz influenced some of this in his description of who the mexican is. He says hes mysterious, romantic and walks with death, or something to that extent. Hes rebellious against society and himself...
